About Nehelenia

Nehelenia Historical Clothing Co. is anxious to bring back the beauty of eras gone by. Each garment gets exact research via internet, movies, museum studies etc. We stick closely to original garments and patterns to achieve most possible historical authenticity.

Patterns are drafted to your measurements using the drafting system Mueller & Son, which is exclusive to fashion schools, and are taken from original period garments on hand. We have access to the most authentic high-class materials worldwide.

Each garment is made in our studio in Boenen/W. Germany and is completely handcrafted. We use modern machines as well as period handwork. We take pride in faithfully reproduced historical clothing and have very high standards of authenticity.

You are welcome anytime for a personal consultation, especially when ordering wedding clothes we do recommend you come and visit in person. And finally the reason why you should commission us with the creation of your dream gown: We love what we do and this is visible in our garments!

Christina´s Bio

More than ten years ago I got involved with costume history and construction. After school I began to study fashion design at the university of applied sciences in  Bielefeld/Germany and finished my studies with a diploma. Graduation collection: “Merveilleuses - Liberté a la Mode”.

My favorite eras are the late 18th century and 1920s. My ever growing collection of international costuming books helps me to keep my knowledge up to date.

Authenticity of  historical costumes

Anyone ordering a historical costume has a certain demand and that is why only you, the customer, decide how period-correct your costume shall be. Of course we have to compromise because a 100% correct reproduction is not possible anymore nowadays. For museums, reenactors and other authenticity-aware customers we offer period tailoring techniques. This means all visible seams will be sewn by hand, eyelets will be handembroidered and only period correct patterns and materials will be used. Our standards are very high and you will never find synthetic fibres or modern fastenings in our costumes.
 

Freelance work for film & tv productions and theatres

Christina is available as a designer for tv, movie and theatre productions in the range of costume design and production, also abroad. If you would like to hire me for your project please contact my studio.

For fairs and events we also arrange displays of historical fashion.
